A "Classic" & Reasons Why You Should ALWAYS Bring a Camera...

Well, yesterday was a bit of a whirlwind in the life of this Day...

I headed to the city for the Bon Jovi concert. I have to say I was completely impressed - what a great concert.  Now let me preface that by saying that I have always liked Bon Jovi, but would not be considered a "die hard" fan.  Imagine my surprise when I was fist-pumping with the best of them.

Adding to the entertainment value immensely were "Guitar Guy", "Poufy, Feathered, Totally 80's Lady", and the "?Threesome".  Seriously.  People watching is so fun.  I should have taken my camera :(

I left home at about 2:45 pm...and arrived back home again at about 3:00 am. In 12 hours and 15 minutes, I managed to drive approximately 6 hours, eat a great supper OUT with friends, sit in a Tim Horton's drive-in line-up, and of course, attend a concert.  Not bad for half a day's worth of time.

The only problem with this...I was just a WEE bit tired on the drive home.  To combat the droopy eyes, I decided to start counting the plethora of road kill (yes, I know...perverse...but it did the trick, lol).  The most surprising roadkill? A very large BOVINE! I was sure it was just my tired eyes as I approached, but my eyes did not deceive.  I, in fact, spotted a cow that had been totally creamed (and the car that did not survive this collision so well) - well, the poor cow didn't fare too well, either. Definitely unique.  Wish I had taken my camera.

So, in conclusion - a busy but great day with multiple great photo ops. Sorry I didn't remember my camera to record the evidence.

You'll just have to believe me.
This time :)

Casualties...

Mmmmm....these poor little guys didn't stand a chance!

To Summarize...

Wow.  It was hot today.  HOT.

Baby B was tired & grouchy. GROUCHY.

This picture summarizes our day to perfection...

Don't let the smirk & glint in the eyes fool you -
this boy was pure devil as his mother tried valiantly to get some nutrition into him.

I've got to go get the mop as we speak and mop the entire dining room floor (and ceiling - I'm sure some cereal stuck up there as well)...we have food chunks in places I didn't think possible.

Sure hope this aversion to anything nutritious is short-lived.
I may have to invest in one of those infomercial extend-a-mop thingies if it doesn't :)

Nature

I kinda dig nature.

For as long as I can remember, I've always looked at the world with a frame - thinking that I would love to be able to capture somehow the beauty of this, or that.  When I used to paint, I often wished I had the talent to freeze-frame certain things in my paintings (and I can remember thinking this as early as when I was in Grade 3 and took oil painting classes)...

This love has naturally passed into my photography hobby - and it is probably the main reason I love photography so much, and feel so passionate about trying to record life in pictures.

One of the things I am enjoying immensely this summer are all the beautiful flowers around my neighbourhood.  Although I truly dislike gardening, I absolutely love flowers.  I have a really brown thumb, hence my appreciation of other's handiwork.

My mom also loves flowers - and really would like a series of prints that she can use in creating a piece of artwork for above her bed.  Thus, I have struck out on a mission this summer to take several photos for this project.

This is one I snapped today, and find it rather fitting, as my hometown (where my mom still lives) is the World Lily Capitol.

The dusty rose colour of this lily is amazing and quite unique!

Enjoy.
Happy weekend, toute la monde!

Project 365 "Update"...

I have to say that honestly...this is not so much of an update...seeing as how the last potd's I shared date WAY, WAY back to April!

However - here is a glimpse of what life has been like for the Day household over the end of April & May (June & July updates coming soon!)...

6 month vaccination appt - so totally AWESOME to see how chunky this little monkey has become (especially after his "skinny" scare when just 3 weeks old). Loved to stare then, still loves to stare now :)

Ahhh...the life of a teacher! I spent a few days in April @ school preparing for the upcoming school year.  Now - as I write this - I feel a small tweak of panic as I still have soooo much work to do before school starts...and it is only ONE month away from today :(

Starting to really express the many moods of Baby B...

My treat on my first Mother's Day!

Wonderful weather...Baby B's gear for the day - a onesie & a sun hat.

You can't keep the boy out of...

Around our house, we like to start them early...

on all things...

well,

not little boy -

like this:

and this:

Oh boy, oh boy...are we ever in trouble around here!
This little boy is soooo mischievous :)

Follow-up...

Flipping (well more like scrolling if you want to know the honest truth) through my pics tonight I saw this one...and just had to share!

Packaged up a jewellery order today in preparation for delivery...but unfortunately the day got a little hairy-scary, so the delivery will have to wait for another day.

My design brain has been in overdrive trying to come up with a logo & packaging for my product - my "branding" if you will.

Honestly, I could spend hours and hours doing this kind of stuff...
but I'm just a teensy bit indecisive...
so it make the process a little frustrating -
I just have such a hard time deciding what I like best!

My signature colour is turquoise, but I have also decided to use charcoal grey & white as accents...

Do you think this is "too grey"...therefore reading as too serious & gloomy?  That is definitely not the look I am going for.

Help! Please :)

Holidays :)

I just wanted to assure all of you out there in blog-land that I have NOT fallen off the face of the Earth...but my presence will be scarce around here for the next couple of weeks.

Project 365/Life, you ask?

Hmmm?

What?

Oh....yes...that "little" thing I started back when 2010 was just a newborn...

I am completely ashamed to say I have fallen WAY off the wagon on that one.  I've got journalling finished to the end of March, pictures printed up until about the middle of May, and missed about 30% (ok, ok.....it is more like 50%) of the potd's for June - I was just a little sporadic in my June picture-taking.  I either took 50 pictures a day, or 0 - for several days.

The "old" me would be in a complete uproar over the "imperfect" way I've managed to tackle this project...

but...

the "new" me has TOTALLY embraced it!
I actually feel that my sporadicness (help me, Rhonda...I've lost my words & am now completely making up new ones) helps capture life as it really is for me at this time in my life!

So I'm running with it :)

On the running note - gotta run - baby crying...and I've got holidays to enjoy!

See ya on the flip side!

There is ALWAYS a rainbow!

Hello again!

Not everything that was planned for this wonderful long weekend came to fruition...but life has a way of being like that.

I'm sad that I didn't get to Saskatoon to see my university buds...
but I am happy that I got to spend some time with another friend & her girls.

I am happy I got an unexpected night of sleep in my own bed (the more I am away, the more I L.O.V.E. my own bed). It was a great, UNINTERUPPTED sleep! For someone a little completely sleep deprived, it was much needed.

So although I didn't get to see all the new little family additions that my education classmates have produced since our graduation, I did manage to have an ok weekend.

This is what I like to call "finding the rainbow" - there can always be something positive in a negative...if you look hard enough.

I encourage you to find your rainbow :)
Have a great, sunny, Sunday!

I'm going to go clean the camper & prepare for the next round of summer excitement...
